The Top House 

Perched high atop a ridge, the view from Glenaire Cottage’s Top House is generously carved out of the Otways forest and affords a vista through the rolling pastures of the Aire River Wildlife Reserve out to the open ocean. This premium residence was hand-built using mud-brick and local timbers in a style that’s part Australian bush retreat, part Spanish abode.

  The gorgeous view can be absorbed from the deck, soaking in the outdoor spa, or seated around the firepit feeding the rosellas and vibrant red-headed Gang Gang cockatoos — all on the ocean-side of the property. But perhaps the best vantage point is sitting inside the barrel sauna, gazing at the ocean out of the full-height dome as you let your worries melt away.

  The open plan living room is spacious, but cosy, with a central fireplace surrounded by a warming stone hearth. You don’t have to travel far for great meals, as the kitchen features a commercial-sized gas cooktop and oven as well as modern appliances. Transfer down a step to the sunken dining room and enjoy your meal — and the view — around the table together.

   If you do want to venture out, The Perch at Lavers Hill provides a fantastic dining experience and atmosphere only ten minutes away. The Top House is an exquisite getaway for a large family or group of friends with three bedrooms sleeping seven guests:

Bedroom 1 - queen bed, Bedroom 2 - double bed, Bedroom 3 -double bed with single bunk.
